Nayagarh, July 19: Divine Residential College here today shooted a letter to the parents of the students intimating them to collect the cancelled School Leaving Certificate (CLC) and other documents of their wards. On the basis of the directive from the Higher Education Department, the principal of the college has rusticated the erring students from the college yesterday.
In the mean time, police have detained the accused students and started investigation after a complaint had been lodged by the victim’s father. A two-member team of the district Child protection unit also interrogated them. It’s been decided that the trio will be produced in the juvenile justice board for being below 18. The three were studying in Plus II Science. They had both mentally and physically harassed their roommate drastically. Meanwhile, the bail pleas of these three students have been rejected by the Juvenile Justice Court.
The victim, Nihar Patnaik, is now undergoing treatment at the District Headquarters Hospital having injuries all over his body. The victim’s father Himansu Bhushan, filed a complaint at the P.S. following which a case was registered against them under IPC Sections 323, 324 and 504. He had mentioned in the complaint that his son had been subjected to torture since the time he had entered the hostel. But the college authorities had tried to hide the matter and brush it up as soon as possible, he said.
The victim student said that their three roommates, Himanshu Sekhar Pradhan, Subha Swagatam Nayak and Nityananda Pal, used to trouble him every day.
