Villagers protested waste dumping; 20 platoons police deployed

Bhubaneswar, July 28: By protesting the dumping of waste material in the dumping yard located at the Daruthenga Village, hundreds of villagers in Daruthenga village gathered at the spot.

Around 20 platoons’ police forces had been deployed at the place to hold the situation under control. The supervising operation of the dumping yard was carried out along with tight security, led by Y B Khurania, Police commissioner, and Dr Krishna Kumar, commissioner of Bhubaneswar Municipality Corporation.

The incident occurred, when a BMC dumping vehicle reached there to dispose of the waste at the waste treatment plant located at the Bhuasuni Mouza of Daruthenga and suddenly protest by villagers regarding the waste dumping began, sources informed. Around twenty villagers have been detained by the police during the protest. Khurdha collector was also present at the spot.
