Pradhan sends fact-finding team for enquiry of children deaths in Jajpur

Bhubaneswar, July 28A fact-finding team consisting of Union Cabinet colleagues of Union Petroleum Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan was sent to assess the factors that resulted in the death of 19 children due to malnutrition in the past three months in a village in Jajpur district.

Pradhan has written three separate applications to Health Minister J.P. Nadda, Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi and Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram urging them to send their respective teams to the Nagada village.The village is inhabited by primitive Juang tribal community. He further added that the village is inhabited by tribal who have not been allotted forest land under the Forest Rights Act.

Also no communication is available in the village, the people have to make use of forest and cover 10 km by walking to get any service or benefit available under various scheme. He showed his sadness saying that around 45,536 children in Odisha are suffering from malnutrition out of which 894 are from Jajpur.
