Paralakhemundi, July 29: As many as 22 persons have been arrested for ransacking the Gumma block office on Thursday over ineligible beneficiaries of the National Food Security Act (NFSA) being asked to return their ration cards

Cases have been registered against the 22 arrested persons for thrashing policemen during the mob attack and have also been forwarded to the court.

On Thursday, a large number of people ransacked the Gumma block office while protesting against the State Government’s directive asking ineligible beneficiaries of the NFSA, having three-room houses, to return their ration cards. They also fought a battle with police personnel present at the spot by pelting stones at the cops, injuring as many as 10 of them, including a DSP and an assistant sub-inspector.
