Bhubaneswar, July 29: Rajesh Pati, Odia film producer moved to the High Court today, seeking anticipatory bail after actress Upasana Mohanty lodged a complaint with Laxmisagar police against him on Wednesday, accusing him of making a ‘casting couch’ attempt on her and for also threatening her if she does not marry him.

The Commissionerate Police had recorded the statement of the actress on Thursday at the Laxmisagar Police station, under Section 161 of the CrPC. Earlier that day, the police had also registered a case against Pati under Sec 506 of IPC on charges of attempt to murder and Sec 509 of IPC for making an indecent proposal.

However, the producer denied these charges filed by her, who had earlier accused the actress of not returning his Rs 21 lakh that she had allegedly taken from him. Refuting to this allegation, Upasana replied that she had received Rs 30,000 as advance amount out of Rs 1.5 lakh, as per the agreement that had been signed for the film, which was never released.

Notably, Pati had alleged that whenever he asked Upasana to give his money back, the actress had threatened to implicate him in a false case of casting couch.
