Installation of solar street lights in Nagada and other adjoining villages.

Kendrapada, July 30: On Wednesday, as many as 4,000 Juang people of Nagada and other adjoining villages under Chingudipala panchayat in Jajpur district witnessed the installation of solar street lights. The other villages to have solar lights are Guisala, Naliadaba, Ashokjhar.

Nagada recently got noticed due to the reports that people are living there in abject poverty and severe malnutrition that claimed 20 children in the last few months. The government machinery was woken up by a public outcry that asked the government to send senior officials to the village and prepare development packages for the people. Six solar street lights have been provided by Tata steel from its CSR funds. S K Mallick, the collector of Jajpur said that they have decided to provide solar lights in the first phase to 130 houses of Juang villages that will be installed by the government-run Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA).
