Bhubaneswar, Aug 10: A total of 17 sluice gates are opened at the Hirakud dam to release the flood waters as the Dam authorities on Tuesday closed two sluice gates due to decline in water inflow into the dam.
Notably, total 19 gates were opened earlier that day to release the flood water reserves. But the authorities decided to close two sluice gates due to low rain fall in the upper catchment areas of the dam.
However, 17 gates are still opened to release the water reserves and the water level of the dam is at 614.10 feet, the authorities said.
