Puri, Aug 11: The road near the Hindu cremation ground Swargadwar has been red flagged by the district administration as the sea waves continued to surge, threatening to wash away the road near the ground. The entry of tourists has been restricted at Swargadwar. All the sensitive areas have been marked with red flags by life guards and tourists have been advised to not to take bath near the area.
While giving an update about the situation, Pradeep Jena, Water Resources Secretary said that to tackle the situation, urgent steps have been taken and for inspection of the site, two senior engineers have been deployed on the spot. For filling of the eroded portions with sand, master plan is being developed. Steps would be taken on the basis of the recommendation given by technical team of IIT Madras, who will arrive in Puri very soon.
