Vigilance arrested IIC red-handed for taking bribe

Cuttack, Aug 19: In a case of demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from Sushant Samal, Cuttack Vigilance Constable, the Vigilance officials nabbed, Inspector-In-Charge (IIC) of Narasinghpur Police Station, Cuttack, Haramohan Nayak on Thursday.

As per information, in a settlement case of land dispute lodged against Samal, the IIC had demanded the bribe. After Samal informed this to the Vigilance officials, a trap was laid by the Vigilance Sleuths, following which the IIC was caught red handed.

Meanwhile, a raid was also conducted by the Vigilance officials at Nayak’s government quarter located in Narasinghpur and his house at Mahisapata, Dhenkanal. The officials seized many important documents during the raid. Further investigation is being carried out into the matter, informed Vigilance Cuttack Division DSP Ananta Narayan Mohanty.
