Udala, Aug 26: The issue of irregular and untimely power cuts in Udala town, forced the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and the people to call for Udala bandh on Thursday that affected the normal life of the people in the town.
Shops and business houses remained shut while the vehicular movement was also affected at the roads connecting Udala to Baripada and Baleswar as the Udala jail and high school road were blocked by the protestors.
Udala town and people of nearby villages have been suffering due to the unscheduled power cuts since last few days. Though people had brought this problem to the notice of electricity officials, no effective measures have been taken yet.
As the electricity supply was cut off for around six to seven hours on August 23 and 24, the step to call for Udala bandh was taken by the agitators.
