Bhubaneswar, Aug 31: Through a letter, the Vigilance has directed the Engineer-in-Chief of Public Health Engineering Organisation (PHEO) of the state government to cease all payments due to Srabani Kar, wife of Himanshu Kar alias Happy Kar, an aide of the suspended former assistant director of Factories and Boilers, Dr. Motilal Gouda, who has been arrested in the matter of fake gazette notification scam. The Vigilance has directed the Executive Engineers of PHEO to take clearance from the Vigilance before making any kind of payments to Srabani.
Notably, Himanshu, by using his wife’s name had started tender work in 2009. Till 2015, tenders worth Rs 10 crore were awarded to him. The construction work that was carried out under B N Construction Company, was registered on Srabani’s name. Income Tax Returns, deposited by Srabani had revealed that she earned Rs 3.5 core in 2014-15.
Also, with the help his wife’s fraud handicap certificate, Himanshu was able to get construction contracts worth crores of rupees in the name of her wife. How a class-C contractor Srabani got contracts worth crores of rupees, is being investigated.
