Sudarshan Pattnaik’s sand sculpture wins people’s choice award in Russia

Puri, Sept 1: For his sand sculpture- ‘Mahatma Gandhi sculpture for non-violence and peace’, renowned artist Sudarsan Pattnaik won the people’s choice award during an international championship in Russia.

The competition had started on April 21 at Kolomenskoye, Moscow, where he created the sand art. In the week-long competition, 20 sculptors from across the world had participated and displayed their art.

An exhibition is being held there since after the competition.

As per a letter by the event’s organizer Pavel Minilkov, out of the total 80,000 votes, Pattnaik’s sculpture has got 60,000 votes from the visitors to the exhibition.

After receiving the information, Pattnaik said that it’s a pride moment for him as so many people liked his sculpture.
