Puri Shree Jagannath Temple Administration approves Rs 190 crore annual budget

Bhubaneswar, Sept 2: The pocket framing of Jagamohana, the prayer hall adjoining the sanctum sanctorum of Sri Jagannath temple, the 12th-century shrine in Odisha’s holy town Puri will commence from September 6. A consensus has been reached at over what is needed in connection with the repair of the temple. These works will be taken up gradually in due course. Informed Archaeological Society of India (ASI) Technical Core Committee Chairman, G C Mitra after the conclusion of the meeting on Jagamohana repair here. Everyday repair work will begin at noon after Sakala Dhoopa till 6 PM. Devotees will be allowed to enter the temple in the evening after the repair work was informed by the Chief Administrator of Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), Suresh Chandra Mohapatra.

The meeting which was held detailed discussions on Jagamohana repair in two sessions yesterday was attended by ASI’s Joint Director General (Conservation) Janhwij Sharma, Core Committee members, officials of the SJTA and members of the Technical Committee
