Berhampur, Sep 8: At Regedi village under Berhampur Sadar police limits here a youth named Suresh Pradhan was allegedly killed by some villagers by slashing his legs with a sharp weapon and crushing his head with stone.
It’s stated that he was creating disturbance during a Bhajan programme organised at the village on the occasion of Ganesh puja and so a rift started between the annoyed villagers and Pradhan eventually. Following this, the villagers took him to a distant place and attacked on him together. At first they allegedly hacked his legs with a sharp weapon and then crushed his head with stone which led to the youth’s death. On getting information, the police immediately arrived at the spot and took the body in possession.
Around 10 villagers were detained for enquiry for having their hand in the incident. It may be noted that Pradhan had criminal records and several cases were pending against him at different police stations.
