Two male and female endangered Blackbucks die in Road Accident in Ganjam, Odisha

Bhanjanagar, Sep 9: Yesterday in Ganjam district, two endangered blackbucks were suspected to have been bumped off by an unknown vehicle.

It’s stated that a male and a female pair of the Indian blackbuck (Antilope cervicapra) was found dead along the road near Baghua River under Aska Forest Range. A local resident said that the antelopes had been hit by some unknown vehicle resulting in their death.

Notably, blackbuck is included in the Schedule-I of Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 and is designated as Vulnerable as per Red Data Book (1994).
