Puri, Oct 6: After the old Patitapabana flag at the top of the temple caught fire due to thunder strikes on Wednesday evening, today the servitors of Sri Jagannath Temple in Puri hoisted a new one.
The mast in which the flag was attached also caught fire yesterday. However, the rituals of the deities were performed on time as the other flags fixed atop the temple remained unaffected.
This incident has affected sentiments of a lakh of devotees on the Jagannath Temple.
