Japanese Encephalitis; district admin takes preventive measures in Malkangiri, Koraput

Malkangiri, Oct 10: As the situation in Malkangiri district has crossed the border line due to the disease Japanese Encephalitis (JE), Koraput began a cleanliness drive to control the threat being spread by vector borne disease.

Taking preventive measures, blood samples of pigs who are the carrier of the disease, have been collected by veterinary officials that will be tested. If the samples are found positive for encephalitis virus, steps will be taken accordingly. Besides, mosquito repellent is also been sprayed in the areas and a special awareness campaign has been initiated to encourage people to use mosquito net, sources said.

As per the information, it has been doubted that a two year child died due to the disease whose blood sample has also been sent for examination.

On the other side, in Malkangiri, cooked food is being given to the children and their mothers. Along with this, mosquito net is also being distributed to the people.

However, on Monday three more children have been hospitalized due to the disease.

It may be noted that, in Malkangiri the death toll of children due to the disease has gone up to 44 in the last 32 days.
