Death toll mounts to 50 in Malkangiri due to Japanese Encephalitis

Malkangiri, Oct 13: The death toll due to Japanese Encephalitis mounts to 50 in Malkangiri district as two more children died while undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital on Thursday.

With the death of two children today, the number of children who died due to the disease has gone up to 50 in 35 days.

As per the information, the deceased have been identified as Amit Madkami of Dariguda and Rebica Madkami of Katangapali in the district.

Arti Ahuja, Health Secretary reviewed the situation on the second day of her visit and visited the Badli village.  

Prasad Harichandan, PCC president headed a team and visited Malkangiri which is majorly affected by the disease.
