Bhubaneswar, Oct 19: Reacting upon the fire breakout incident at Sum Hospital, a judicial probe into the matter, compensation of Rs 25 lakh and job to the relative of each person who died in the incident has been demanded by the Congress party on Tuesday.
Pointing finger towards the hospital authority, the Chief Minister and Health Minister, Prasad Harichandan, President of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) held them responsible for the mishap. He further added Rs 25 lakh compensation with job to kin of each deceased should be announced by the State government.
Questioning the clearance permission of the hospital and unavailability of adequate firefighting equipment, Harichandan has demanded judicial probe in this matter and arrest of the main accused.
The same demand has been put forward by D Raja, secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI) on the same day.
However, based on charges of negligence, an FIR has been filed against Sum Hospital authorities by the Fire Service Wing of Odisha at Kahandagiri Police station. Besides, due to delinquency of duty, management and shifting of patients, another FIR has been filed by DMET Joint Director.
