Bhubaneswar, Oct 20: Showing her outstanding performance at the South Asian Aquatic Championship (SAAC)-2016 which began at Sri Lanka capital Colombo, Pratyasha Ray, Odisha’s swimmer won the Silver medal on Wednesday.
She won the medal in the 50 metres back stroke swimming category as she ranked the second position.
Her achievement has made her the first Odia Swimmer who won an International Medal in the swimming category.
This event organized by the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU), began on Tuesday and will continue till 23rd October.
In this event, seven SAARC countries, Bangladesh, Maldives, Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan and Nepal have taken part.
In 2016, Pratyasha also earned the tag as the first Odia swimmer to win a medal at national level.
In July, at the 43rd National Aquatic Championship which was held at Bangalore’s Basavangudi Aquatic Centre, Pratyasha registered three gold medals in her name in 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke swimming category.
