Shri Venkaiah Naidu administers Ekta Pledge to employees of urban ministries

New Delhi, Oct 31: Minister of Urban Development and Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation Shri M.Venkaiah Naidu today administered the ‘Ekta Pledge’ to the officials and employees of both the Ministries on the occasion of Sardar Patel Jayanti being celebrated as ‘Ekta Diwas’ across the country.

The Pledge required everyone to dedicate to preserve the unity, integrity and security of the nation in the spirit of unification of the country made possible by the vision and actions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel besides resolving to make own contribution to ensure internal security of the country.

Later speaking to the media, Shri Naidu said; “Over the years, justice has not been done to the lives and contributions of great leaders like Sardar Patel, Subhash Chandra Bose, Dr.B.R.Ambedkar, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya etc., to nation building. This needs to be corrected by reminding the people of their contributions and relevance of their vision to present times. Accordingly, the Government is organizing special programmes to perpetuate the memory of such leaders who had not been their due. Sardar Patel had made yeomen contribution to integration of India and hence, his Jayanti is being celebrated as Ekta Diwas”.

Shri Venkaiah Naidu also administered pledge to the officials and employees of the two urban ministries, seeking to strive for eradication of corruption. The pledge taken on the occasion of beginning of Vigilance Week commits employees to continuously strive to work to bring about integrity and transparency in all spheres of activities.
