Jan Sampark Padyatra end-day: Odisha CM addresses Dharmasala Mahotsav public occasion on Mahanadi issue

Jajpur, Nov 3: Yesterday Odisha Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik addressing an occasion here assured that no one can deprive Odisha of using Mahanadi water come what may. Patnaik addressed the public meet which was organised at the Dharmasala Mahotsav Ground to mark the conclusion of BJD’s month-long Jan Sampark padayatra during his one-day visit to Jajpur district. He further said Odisha has emerged as a model state in the country in the field of public welfare. On the occasion, the chief minister disbursed financial assistance to the beneficiaries of various welfare schemes. Besides, 25 Congress and 10 BJP activists had been detained by the Dharmashala police prior to the Chief Minister’s visit to the district. Terming the statement of the chief minister on Mahanadi issue, the BJP today said it is the political game plan of the former to hoodwink people.

Notably, the BJD undertakes a 10-day ‘Jan Sampark Padayatra’ from Gandhi Jayanti on October 2 till Jayprakash Narayan Jayanti on October 11 every year. However this year, the Padyatra was held for a month to apprise the people of the several welfare measures taken up by the state government and the stand of the party on the ongoing Mahanadi issue with the Chhattisgarh government.
