Malkangiri bandh call on November 8 by Zilla Adivasi Samaj Mahasangh

Malkangiri, Nov 7: Alleging the failure of State government to tackle Japanese Encephalitis in Malkangiri, the Zilla Adivasi Samaj Mahasangha has called for a dawn to dusk bandh in Malkangiri on November 8.

The Mahasangh further said that it has been around two months that the State government has taken steps to tackle Japanese Encephalitis situation in affected areas, mainly in Malkangiri district. However, no significant change has been seen yet. Besides, the death toll due to the disease is increasing day by day.

The State government is only reviewing the situation instead of taking steps to neutralize the disease, Ghanshyam Madkami, President of Zilla Adivasi Samaj Mahasangh stated.

Protesting the increasing death rate due to the disease, the Sangha will gherao the Collector’s office the next day after the bandh and will submit a memorandum, Madkami said.

As per the report published by the media, the death toll has crossed 90 but on the other hand, the government has still put the figure as 27.

Notably, the death toll due to the killer disease has been mounted to 94 in Malkangiri on Monday.
