Prakash Chandra Sarangi, Vice Chancellor of Ravenshaw University informed reporters. On the other hand, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Ravenshaw University refuted the charge of ragging and instead called it a dispute between the junior and senior students. The Joint Committee comprising of varsity officials had also investigated into the incident and clarified that it was not ragging.

Notably, the differently-abled girl student belonging to Patkura area of Kendrapara was studying in the first year class of Plus Two Science.  She had informed her family of being tortured by some senior students in the hostel. Immediately, her father arrived at the college and discussed the matter with the hostel authorities. The matter was resolved after the accused girl students promised not to harass the victim, but they again did so. Hence, the victim left for home in a traumatized manner but fell ill on reaching her hometown. After the girl had been admitted to the Mental Health Institute at the SCB Medical College & Hospital for treatment here, her family members filed a complaint regarding the same at the Malgodown police station on Wednesday.
