Cuttack, Nov 15: Finally after going through a train of conflicts and tensions, the most-awaited festival in Odisha, was inaugurated yesterday evening. The week-long festival organized on a land of about 50 acres along the banks of river Mahanadi embankment here near Gadagadia temple would continue till Nov 20. State Industries Minster, Devi Prasad Mishra inaugurated the festival’s opening day. Also other MPs, MLAs and City Mayor were present on the occasion.
However, a week ago all Odias were worried from the fact that the event may not be held this year as the East Zone Bench of the National Green Tribunal have refused to allot sites to stalls on the ground as it thought that the ground was a riverbed. But, when the District Administration informed that the ground was just an islet, it is then that the NGT have a go-ahead signal on Nov 4 to organize the event.
