MoU signed between BSCL and UNFPA to make the Bhubaneswar denizens socially smarter:

Bhubaneswar: November 19: Memorandum of Understanding signed between Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) and United Nations Population Fund(UNFPA) on Friday to make combined efforts to make both the city and its residents smarter.

The New Urban Agenda adopted a month ago by the UN member states at Quito, Ecuador, which gives focus on ensuring social equality and security among denizens in a particular city, will be implemented in Odisha. The UNFPA’s expertise in analysing population data will help plan and deliver services that are equitable and sustainable.

The MoU focuses on development of women, children and the abandoned. To promote safety and security of girls and women, especially in urban slums, safety audits and community engagement programmes would be undertaken, according to the MoU. Different people-centric programmes will be undertaken to make denizens learn about a smarter city living. Likewise, Citizen connective programme would be undertaken in eight big slums in the city.

The MoU was signed by Diago Palacias on behalf of the UNFPA and Bhubaneswar Smart City CEO Veenil Krishna in the presence of Tourism Minister Ashok Panda, MLAs Priyadarshi Mishra and Bijay Mohanty , Mayor Anant Narayan Jena, Deputy Mayor K Shanti and Commissioner Dr Krishan Kumar.
