Visakhapatnam, Nov 21: 38.1 Over it was. That’s what the Indian bowlers needed to bowl out England for just 158 to finish a 246 run win on the fifth day of the second test match in Visakhapatnam. From 87 for 2 on the fourth day of the second test in pursuit of a 405, England’s target was to bat through the day to make a draw.
But a great pitch assistance to the Indian Spinners, made England loose 8 wickets in just 66 runs, with Jayant making a 3/30 and Ashwin 3/52. England was washed out just after the lunch.
The surplus of victory perhaps overstated the gap between the sides – the key difference in every way, was India’s skipper and Man of the Match Virat Kohli. His single-handed 248 runs made a deficit in the England’s balance. Conflicting to all the pre-match predictions, the pitch still wasn’t spinning dramatically by the final day, but it was slipping through at a hustling pace to match India’s turbo-charged over-rate.
The destructive dismissal of Cook, in the last over of the 4th day, left England Feared the most. The play resumes on the 5th day and the first victim of the morning was Ben Duckett, his rich strokeplay and gifted attitude will doubtless serve him well, but in this situation, the strokeplay had roughly the same value as the Old Indian Rs 500 currency note
Slowly slowly wickets started falling with Cook, then Moeen, & … and The End was inevitable.
