Bhubaneswar, Nov 22: Today the mortal remains of the Odia Army officer, Captain Subhendu Mishra, who died in the Kanpur train mishap on Sunday morning, were set ablaze at the Satya Nagar crematorium here. The last rites of Mishta were carried out with full state honour at the cremation ground. On Monday evening, Mishra’s corpse arrived at the Biju Patnaik International Airport here.
Mishra is a native of the Binayakpur village in Nayagarh. He was a student of the 2010 batch student of Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) at Dehradun. Suvendu was also the Captain of the 23 Parachute Regiment of the Indian Army. He was going to join his new posting on LoC on Indo-Pak border when he faced this tragic calamity thus losing his life.
Notably, Para is a special forces unit of the Indian Army’s Parachute Regiment with missions like special operations, direct action, hostage rescue, counter-terrorism, unconventional warfare, special reconnaissance, foreign internal defence, counter-proliferation, counter-insurgency, seek and destroy and personnel recovery.
