The Grand Alliance led by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar surged ahead of the National Democratic Alliance on Saturday after counting of votes for the Bihar Assembly elections.
At noon the grand alliance was ahead in 157 seats while the NDA could muster a bare 74 seats.
Notably, Modi was star campaigner for the NDA while Nitish-Sonia-Lalu yadav and Sharad Yadav campaigned for the grand alliance.
This will be second successive defeat for the NDA after losing the elections in Delhi Assembly nearly one and half year ago.
The Assembly has 247 seats.
