Cuttack, Dec 2: People in Cuttack district are surely saddened after the district Administration imposed orders for restriction on kite flying in the city, in addition to banning Manja strings.

Kite flying is not only a game; it’s a festival for the Cuttackians. They celebrate the kite-flying festival every year during the winters. Various kite-flying competitions are held in the city on the day of Makar Sankranti. But unfortunate, the district Collector on Friday has ordered restrictions on flying kites on rooftops. Only open spaces will be used for the game. In addition to this Manja, the glass-coated strings, plastic and Chinese strings used to fly kites are also banned.

This major decision was taken after the last year’s incident of a 6-year-old girl who got killed after a manja string slit her throat while travelling with her parents on a motor bike on the NH 5 near Telengapetha, Cuttack.
