Bhubaneswar, Dec 7: Keeping in view about the depression created over the Bay of Bengal, the State government’s Revenue and Disaster management Department, has advised all the district collectors to inform their respective farmers to cover their harvested paddy.
Stating about the IMD report, the Special Relief Commissioner (CSR) informed that the depression is centered at 0900 UTC over the southwest of Bay of Bengal and about 1360 km southwest of Gopalpur. It is expected that it will be moving towards the west northwards and later toward north westwards.
As per the IMD report it may get intensified in the next 24 hours and later may turn into a cyclonic storm, following which rainfall may occur in the South districts and Coastal areas of the state from the 10 to 13th of December.
Thus, it is advisable that farmers must cover their harvested paddy and move it in a safe place as soon as possible, so that damages may be avoided, informed the SRC.
