All villages to get electricity by Mar 2017: Odisha CM

Bhubaneswar, Dec 17: On Friday the Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik directed the officials of the Energy department to electrify all villages across the state by March, 2017.

The CM gave this order while going through the rural electrification projects at the state secretariat here. The chief minister gave orders to expedite so that the deadline of ensuring electricity to each and every household in the state by 2019 can be met.

It was also revealed that till last year the government has provided electricity to 2,156 villages and more 1318 villages are yet to be electrified. Pranab Prakash Das, Energy minister stated that there are more than 3,300 villages in the state out of which more than 2,000 villages have already been electrified till now and the remaining villages will get electricity by March, 2017.
