‘Women of India’ expo from Friday in New Delhi

The Ministry of Women and Child Development will hold its annual Women of India Exhibition with the theme “Women and Organic Products” from November 13th to November 23 at Dilli Haat New Delhi.

The exhibition will be inaugurated by Union Minister of Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi and the Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Radha Mohan Singh.

 

The exhibition this year will involve sale and exhibition of organic products ranging from food to other eco-friendly products mainly exhibited by various women’s groups and women entrepreneurs from Delhi, NCR and all states of India, especially from rural areas.

Over 500 women artisans and entrepreneurs across the country from Leh to Kanyakumari and from Kohima to Kutch, will come together with their organic products, such as tribal and ethnic foods, pickles and preserves, rice, pulses, spices, vegetables and fruits, fabrics, dyes and dresses, cosmetics and household products, in the exhibition, said sources.

Some of the other organic products will include cereals, oils, honey, tea, hair care, bath care, beauty care, aromatherapy products, organic cotton fabric, linen, organic seeds and bio products among others.

 

The main aim of the Exhibition is to support and encourage women and women-led groups which promote organic farming thus supporting local community’s economy, creating jobs and keeping farmers thriving and in addition spreading awareness in the community about the benefits of organic products.
