Mayurbhanj Utsav to begin from Jan 6 in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar, Jan 4: Within few days, the people of the capital city will be enjoying the winters in a different way. With a view to promote the district’s culture and art in all the states in India and to transform Mayurbhanj into a Public-Private Investment Destination, the Mayurbhanj Cultural Association will be organizing a three day long ‘Mayurbhanj Utsav’. The event will begin from Jan 6 at the Rastra Bhasa Prachar Sabha Ground here and will end on Jan 8. Regarding the same, a press meet was held at the Mayurbhanj Cultural Association which was attended by famous Ollywood stars, Uttam Mohanty, Bijoy Mohanty and Ajit Das.

Addressing the press meet, Uttam Mohanty said “We are trying to aware the people of Odisha as well as the country about the present scenario of the district, its culture, history, and art. The aim is to make the district, a right place for tourists. We request all the people to make it a grand success like every year”.

“It has been six years since the association has been organizing this Utsav. It is a platform where the artists of Mayurbhanj get the opportunity to showcase their talent and art in front of people coming from various states”, said Ajit Das. During this three-day long programme, people will get to see dance numbers performed by children on the songs of Uttam Mohanty, Bijay Mohanty, Ajit Das and Babushan Mohanty, he added.

The event will pay heed to its three main objectives, they being, to promote the culture of the district and make people know that it has acquired an important place in the cultural history of Odisha similar to the other cultures of the state, to provide a better platform to the district’s artists to showcase their talent in the capital city and to make the district a tourist place for its betterment.

There would be cultural programmes, crafts mela during the fest and food stalls as well based on the Mayurbhanj Specialty that would make the visitors feel warm during these cold days. The ancient tribal dance, Jhumura and various native songs will attract more visitors to the festival.

It may be noted that, people belonging to different districts have their own associations in capital city and each year these associations conduct an event for promoting their particular district.
