Mother exchanges her 1-day old son for money in Kendrapada, Odisha

Kendrapara, Jan 9: Due to excess poverty, a woman here handed over her infant son to a woman neighbour on getting an assurance to get Rs 2,000 for the same. The mother of the infant boy, Gita Murmu belonging to Bhramaradiapatna here stated to the media that due to the financial conditions, she would not be able to take care of her one-day-old baby. Gita is a daily-wage labourer and already has a 12-year-old daughter and an eight-year-old son. She further said that her husband had left her alone long back.
