Mohana, Jan 17: A woman sarpanch candidate’s body was found inside Sagadia hill forest under Mohana block in Gajapati district yesterday morning and the cops are investigating into it. RN Barik, SDPO, R Udayagiri informed the media that the name of the deceased is Mini Dalabehera belonging to the Baghamari village. She had filed her nominations as a sarpanch candidate of Baghamari Gram Panchayat on Jan 11 as informed by the deceased’s father,Paula Dalabehera . On the day of her death that is on Jan 13, she had gone to the Canara Bank at Chandragiri. Since then, she had gone missing. On Monday morning, her charred body was sighted inside the Sagada hill forest near Jirang village. Primary investigation has revealed that the assailants had burnt the woman after killing her. Asking on whether the murder was an outcome of political rivalry, Barik stated that the cops have still not received any such complaint. Even the family members have no idea on the reason of murder. The family members had lodged a complaint with the Chandragiri Police after they themselves could not locate Dalabehera. Asking on who could be the culprit behind the murder, Barik said that the involvement of two candidates of other political parties who had filed nominations along with his daughter are under suspicion. Following the incident, there would be no further nominations. Besides, there would be no election in Baghamari panchayat till the assailants are identified and arrested.
