Bhubaneswar, Jan 17: Some Leaders of the student wing of congress pitched eggs and tomatoes on to the Congress Bhavan late last night, alleging the discrimination in distributing Zilla Parishad tickets for the following Panchayat polls.
Ajay Panda, former spokesperson of Student wing of the party along with his supporters’ hurled eggs and tomatoes at the party headquarters last night, said sources.
Ajay who was an aspirant from the 37th zone of Banki in Cuttack, was denied of a ticket and was earlier suspended from his post by NSUI president Itish Pradhan for his involvement in anti-party activities. Irate over the incident, of not been given the ticket, Ajay and his supporters attacked at the Congress Bhavan.
Ajay has also threatened to hurl eggs at the PCC president Prasad Harichandan’s residence if required, said sources.
Being informed, NSUI president and congress leader Debasish Patnaik reached the spot to assess the situation. Capital police is also on its way investigating into the matter.
