Bhubaneswar, Jan 24: The state finance department will hold the annual budget discussions for 2017-18 today. The discussion will be chaired in the presence of economists, former finance ministers, industrialists, and investors.
In the upcoming session more importance will be given to social sector, rural infrastructure, irrigation, education and health. As of reports, the annual budget for 2018 is likely to be around Rs 1 lakh crores, while the implementation of 7th pay commission recommendations will bear and additional budget of Rs 5,000 crores.
While a social initiative, which was taken earlier, inviting suggestions from the public for preparing the annual budget for 2017-18 fiscal, the govt has received 794 suggestions via online, 691 through Whats app, and 9 through telegram.
After the grand demonetization move by the center, later last year, this year’s budget is going to be a challenge for the state government, say experts.
