Odisha Cuttack’s SCB’s student harassment case: Commissionerate police registers case against 4 allegedly accused

Cuttack, Jan 27: Today the Commissionerate police registered a case against four students of SCB Medical College and Hospital here at the Mangalabag police station as alleged by a girl student regarding harassment to her. This was said by Cuttack DCP Sanjeev Arora. Arora further added that a special 4-member team has been formed to investigate the matter. Investigating officers said a report has been sought from the College authorities in this regard and if needed they will be interrogated.The statement of the victim will be recorded under Section 164 of CrPC.

Yesterday a 4th year MBBS girl student of SCB Medical College and Hospital here lodged a police complaint alleging ragging and harassment by senior students. She filed the complaint in Mangalabag Police station in which she stated that she was abused with foul language while she was watching the annual movie show in a theatre. The senior students also made lewd gestures towards her. Moreover, the victim apologized to her senior and despite her apology she was harassed. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered at Mangalabag Police station under Sec 341, 294, 354, 509, 34 of IPC. However, police and college authorities were unavailable to give comments on the incident.
