SOA in Odisha capital observes 68th Republic Day

Bhubaneswar, Jan 28: The 68th Republic Day was observed at the SOA University on Thursday with the Chancellor Prof. Khageswar Pradhan urging the students and the faculty to take the university to greater heights.

“The growth and reputation of our university in academics and research have been recognized at the national level as it ranked much above many others through various ranking processes,” he said.

“We should not be complacent of this achievement and improve our performance and growth,” Prof. Pradhan said after unfurling the tricolor at the R-Day function held at the University stadium.

Prof. Pradhan, who also took the salute at the ceremonial parade in which students from different institutions under the university took part, also spoke on the significance of the Republic Day. “We must work together to remove social imbalances, discrimination and injustice,” he said.

Besides a contingent of NCC commanded by Prasenjit Jena, students from the faculties of engineering and technology, medical sciences, dental sciences, management sciences, legal studies, hospitality and tourism management, nursing, pharmaceutical sciences, agricultural sciences and students of the Institute of Higher Secondary Education, took part in the march past.

Parade commander Prabhu Dev and deputy commander Rahul Singh led the parade under the supervision of the NCC officer Mr. Sachidananda Sahu.

The chief guest also gave away certificates to the participating contingents.

The Vice-Chancellor Prof. Amit Banerjee, the registrar, Prof. B.B.Pradhan, Dean (Students Welfare) Prof. S.S.Nanda, Deans of different institutes, Associate Dean (Students Welfare), Dr. Jyoti Ranjan Das, faculty members, Sports Officer Ms. Sunita Barma and students were present.
