Bhubaneswar, Jan 28: Yesterday the Odisha Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the 15-day-long Adivasi Mela at the Adivasi ground here. Various tribal home decor crafts and spices, artifacts made of metal, wood, stone and other materials have been introduced in the fair. Dummy huts have been made in the fair to bring in the look of a tribal village.The purpose of the fair is to showcase tribal art and culture, tradition, lifestyle, arts and crafts along with the exhibition of tribal products ranging from different forest produce to tribal commodities. Tribal people exhibited their products at around 180 kiosks. Cultural programmes would also be held every evening at the fair. For the benefit of the visitors, provisions like ATM, special police protection and control room, 25 CCTV cameras throughout the area have been installed this year. The Mela, organised by the SC/ST Development Department, would continue till Feb 9.
