Paralakhemundi, Jan 30: Tension ran high on Saturday night at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here after a mother and her newborn died due to alleged medical negligence on Saturday night. The name of the deceased mother was Sabita Gurunga, wife of Debendra Gurunga of Ratansing village under Gosani block in Gajapati.
It’s stated that Debendra had first admitted his pregnant wife Sabita to the community health centre in Gurandi but as her condition started to deteriorate she was later shifted to the DHH here. She delivered a dead baby boy there. Post-delivery, Sabita also died. Alleging negligence in treatment, Debendra lodged a police complaint. However, the hospital authorities have refuted the medical negligence allegations leveled by the kin of the deceased.
