Bhubaneswar, Feb 1: As the ruling BJD has opposed the formation of the Negotiation Committee to resolve Mahanadi water sharing issue between Odisha and Chhattisgarh, the party is suppose to raise the issue in the Budget Session of Parliament today. Besides, the party will also be targeting the NDA government over a host of issues including Polavram project and Centre’s neglect towards Odisha in releasing social welfare funds. It was decided at BJD’s Parliamentary party meeting in New Delhi on Tuesday.
As the Panchayat Polls is round the corner, the ruling party wants to raise these issues and politicize it to gain political attention. Development programmes in tribal and backward regions are also some of the thrust areas for the BJD as it tries to woo voters ahead of the panchayat polls beginning Feb 13.
