On Monday night the Commissionerate police had informed the media that vehicle’s ownership is still in the name of Sidharth Construction though it was sold out in 2009 to former Speaker of Odisha Assembly, Kishore Mohanty. Hence, the cops served notice to the construction company to submit details of the vehicle. The office of Siddharth Construction had also been raided by the Commissionerate Police and also verified the documents of the said vehicle.
On another side, the outraged OUAT students staged a road block at Siripur Square on Monday morning alleging that cops are not initiating action against the driver as the construction company is owned by the kin of BJD MLA Debasish Samantray. The students have demanded a non-biased investigation into the mishap claiming that the incident was not an accident but a pre-planned murder. Upon the intervention of the Additional DCP, assuring the students of action against the guilty, the students later withdrew their strike.
On Saturday night, a third year MCA OUAT student, Suchismita Biswal died after being hit by a Tata Safari SUV, that was under the name of Siddharth Construction, on Siripur-Fire Station road. Another girl, Pragyna Tiwari, sustained injuries in the accident and is undergoing treatment. While police have seized the vehicle, the driver fled the spot.
