Chennai, Nov 16: rains continue to lash several parts of Tamil Nadu state in southern India even as the toll in rain related incidents have risen to 59 on Monday.
Places across Chennai, such as the Marina Beach, have been flooded after incessant rainfall in the city which was recorded at 24 cm.
Met department has predicted more rains in the Tamil Nadu capital and other coastal areas on Monday.
While schools and colleges remain shut, suburban train services have been disrupted as well. The state government has evacuated people living in low lying areas.
Met officials had earlier said that a low pressure trough had formed in the south east Bay of Bengal and it could intensify into a depression.
