Jatni Tehsildar case: State given 24-hr deadline to arrest accused by OAS officers’ Association

Bhubaneswar, Mar 4: In connection to the attack on the Jatni Tehsildar by unidentified miscreants for raiding illegal stone quary in Khurda, on Friday the State government has been given a 24-hr ultimatum by the OAS officers’ Association to arrest the accused and if it fails, the association has warned to launch a stir.

On Wednesday allegedly over opposing illegal stone quarrying issue, about 20-25 unidentified miscreants supposedly to be a group of stone mafia attacked Jatni Tehsildar named Bijay Kumar Swain at Rathipur village here while they were returning after raiding an illegal quarry near Rathipur. They also ransacked their registered official vehicle and threatened them for life. Later, the Tehsildar was hospitalized for treatment. During the raid, as per the Tehsildar, they seized a power tiller but the illegal miners had fled the spot. Based on the complaint of the official a case had been registered at Jatni PS. Khurda Collector and Bhubaneswar ACP Tapan Patnaik also met the Tehsildar and took stock of the incident. Khurda Collector Niranjan Sahu along with the OAS association claimed the incident to be condemnable. He also said that the mining mafia who are involved in the attack will be punished severely as the district administration and police are bold on this issue.
