Bhubaneswar, Mar 14: Today the Commissionerate Police (CP) approached the Supreme Court to urge the latter to impose strict conditions on the bail granted to the prime convict in the murder of Budhia Singh’s trainer, Biranchi Das, Raja Acharya. Acting upon the decision made by the SC to grant bail to Raja, late Biranchi’s wife, Geetanjali Panda alleged that she and five other witnesses had got life threats and thus demanded security for all. Panda told the media that she was shocked to know that the prime convict was granted bail even after she along with the five witnesses had clearly stated that it was Raja who was behind the murder of Biranchi. She also said that apart from Raja getting bail, from the past two months, the security cover over her family and herself and also over the witnesses had been removed. On asking about its reason, nothing was discreetly said in spite of the fact that it may have been the orders of the Odisha government. She lastly went on to state that the fact that Raja gets a bail makes her family and herself insecure. Panda said she would move for a special counsel to apply on the case again. On the other hand, Leslie Tripathy with whom Biranchi had a one sided love affair also said that she would ask for protection for her family through a written application after alleging that life threats were given even to her family and herself. Notably, Biranchi Das was killed on Apr 13, 2008 and the man behind the murder is said to be Raja Acharya and the reason being Raja’s one sided love with Leslie. The same year, Badagada police detained Raja from Goa. It was the Badagad PS where the murder was registered. In 2011, Bhubaneswar District and Sessions Court held Raja as the prime suspect in the case thus imposing life imprisonment on him.
