Congress lashes out on ruling BJD in Assembly house over amendment in Odisha Zilla Parishad Election Rules-1994

Bhubaneswar, Mar 17: Yesterday at the Assembly, the opposition party, Congress targeted the State Government over amendment in Odisha Zilla Parishad Election Rules-1994. Leader of Opposition, Narasingha Mishra alleged that the government has amended the Zilla Parishad Election Rules in favour of the ruling party. Mishra termed it as illegal and therefore demanded that the Zilla Parishad elections should be declared null and void.

According to the section 51 of the Zilla Parishad act, a notification should be published before amendment on which general public can submit their objections but the government has amended the rule in a hurry going against the law. Both BJD and BJP leaders have expressed their views on it outside the house.
