Bhubaneswar, Mar 20: All Odisha Auto Chalaka Mahasangha will be on a state-wide strike on Mar 22 in protest against hike in fee for registration, insurance and fitness certificate of the vehicles as neither the Centre nor the State is paying any heed to their concerns in spite of approaching several times. This was said by Mahasangha general secretary Padman Kumar Samal. The strike is likely to affect students appearing for their Plus II board exams and so Samal has urged to the parents through the media to make alternate arrangements. This step had to be taken as the decision of hike in fee for registration would affect around 1.4 lakh auto drivers in the state. As per survey, around 4 lakh people in urban places and 1 lakh people in rural areas travel in autos.
