BJD leader and former minister Bishnu Das resigns as RS member

Bhubaneswar, Mar 21: On being appointed as the vice-chairman of the State Planning Board, BJD leader and former minister Bishnu Das resigned as the Rajya Sabha member. He had given his resignation to the chairman, Md Hamid Ansari of the RS last night. He had earlier said that he drew attention of RS chairman in this regard as the Deputy Chairman of State Planning Board is similar to the post of the Cabinet rank. On the other hand, the Jagatsinghpur district president of BJD was assigned the job on Saturday assigned the job. On the same day, Party president Naveen Patnaik also assigned Jagatsinghpur district president of BJD with the job of convenor of BJD SC Cell. As a result, the post of the vice-chairman of the State Planning Board was lying vacant after the resignation of MP N Bhaskar Rao.
